As of October 1, 2025, changes will come into effect for consumers with high electricity consumption. We explain in simple terms what the "Last Resource Supply Tariff" (Son Kaynak Tedarik Tarifesi) is and how it might affect you.
What is it?
Imagine you have a limit for cheap electricity under the state-regulated tariff. If you significantly exceed this limit, you will pay a higher price for the excess consumption under the "Last Resource Supply Tariff."
The new limits are as follows:
- For households (Residential Subscribers): 4,000 kWh per year. (Previously it was 5,000 kWh).
- For shops, offices, and factories (Commercial/Industrial Subscribers): 15,000 kWh per year. (Remained unchanged).
Important: If you have not signed a separate contract with an energy retail company and you exceed the limit, after 3 months you will be automatically switched to this new tariff.
Why is this tariff more expensive?
Because it is linked to the wholesale electricity price on the exchange, which is constantly changing. The formula is complex, but the essence is simple: your rate per kWh will be higher than the standard tariff, and it can change every month.
What to Do? How to Check?
Calculate your consumption: Check your annual electricity bills to see your average kWh usage.
Check with your distribution company: They are the ones who officially determine if you have exceeded the limit. Contact your specific distribution company to get accurate information.
Can I switch back?
Yes, but not immediately. If you exceed the limit in one calendar year, you will remain on this tariff until the end of that year. At the beginning of the next year, you will be switched back to the standard tariff if your annual consumption is below the limit again.
